Review: Her Story

Her Story is unlike any other detective game I’ve ever played – and I’ve played quite a few mystery/detective games in my time. This unusual title was created by Sam Barlow (who also created Silent Hill: Shattered Memories), a veteran of the game design world and mastermind of suspense and beautifully told stories.

Throughout the game, your objective is to discover what happened to Simon Smith, Hannah Smith’s (a protagonist’s) husband. The player is presented with a police database full of video clips, none of which are in order though I don’t think this actually has any bearing on whether or not you complete the game successfully.

Gabriel Knight Sins of the Fathers Countdown

Having been born and raised in New Orleans, and spending a good portion of my youth hearing all about voodoo legends and idolatry, you can probably understand why Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers was one of my favorite games growing up. This is in addition to its sequel The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery. You may remember the latter being mentioned on my blog in my favorite retro games (part one) post. If you do, you can probably imagine my excitement at the revamping and release of the 20th anniversary edition of the Sins of the Father to be unleashed to the world on October 15th.

Review: Serena by Senscape

If you’ve read my about page, you know one very important fact about me by now – I love to be scared. I love horror, I love the adrenaline rush of not knowing what’s behind the next corner, I love jumping out of my skin. Love it all. So when I come across a horror game, naturally I jump at the chance to play it.

Serena is a short point-and-click adventure horror game by Indie developer studio Senscape.
